Hi there, and welcome!
My name is India, and I’m the writer behind Joyfully Miami. This blog started out as my own personal ode to the city — a place where I can highlight the parts of Miami’s history, culture and nature that make me love living here.
But now?
My mission is to introduce you to a different side of Miami. Here, you won’t find roundups featuring the city’s best night clubs or bars. Instead, I’m taking you to the parts of the city that inspire you to really feel something.
We’ll be looking at the whimsical, tranquil and — of course — joyful destinations in the city that are sure to delight you whether you’re here for a weekend or you live here full time.
My Story
Like most people in the city, I’m not originally from here. I’m a transplant from West Virginia, and I grew up in an Italian/Polish-American family. (My Italian is decent. And my Polish is abysmal.)
I made enthusiastic stops in New York, Ohio, Argentina and Colombia (hablo bien) before officially settling down in South Florida almost a decade ago.
At first, I came here begrudgingly. But now, you can’t get me out of Miami.
Jesus called me here, so here I am. In between writing blog posts and exploring the city, I work as a content marketing strategist and copywriter in the hospitality industry. My writer website, India Amos Writes, is exclusively devoted to those endeavors — and I’m always on the lookout for new clients!
India Trivia
(About me, not the country.)
- I graduated with an undergraduate degree in modern languages (Spanish and Italian) and anthropology. A lot of what I learned about society + culture influences how I write about communities + travel today.
- I spent a few months working in-house as a Senior Copywriter with Royal Caribbean. Now, I run my marketing business + this blog while working full-time as an inner-city English teacher. I know it’s not for everyone, but it brings me pure joy.
- I’ve published travel-related content with Business Insider, Fodor’s, Go Overseas, Miami New Times + The Washington Post. Check out some of my work here.
- I’ve never been to India, but I’m confident God knew to give me a travel-related name because I love traveling so much. I haven’t been to Asia yet, and most of my adventures have been in the Americas, Europe + the Middle East.
